4th book in Uglies series is exploration of reputation economy. Good but not quite up with the original trilogy. Still worth reading if you are a fan.

I'm wrung out. It's a strange situation - as I was reading The Sparrow, clearly a great and important book, I thought about all the people I would recommend it to. At the end I don't know what to do. If I hand this book to someone I will be partly responsible for the how they feel after reading it. It reminds me that most of what I read is science fiction, and love it though I do, it is mostly for fun - entertainments. The Sparrow is not an entertainment. It is a tragic story that I will probably think on for the rest of my life.

Holy crap!

Reread for sci-fi book club at the Bainbridge Island book store. A fantastic book. I don't think I read it since it originally came out and the movie had largely replaced it in my memory. It is a fine movie but the book is more interesting. I compare Sagan's view of science and religion to someone like Dawkins. Sagan actually thinks though and gives a fair reading of the issues in this book. Very well done.
